This update introduces a revamped Sunstone management interface, designed to enhance user experience with faster, more intuitive navigation, along with resource inspection tools, reorganized settings, and GUI-based VirtioFS management to optimize routine cloud operations.
The 7.4 release significantly boosts automation with OneSwap for bulk VMware migrations, improved OneDRS resource scheduling, intelligent datastore selection, and storage migration, alongside advancements in OneKS for managing Kubernetes deployments. These features collectively support organizations in modernizing their infrastructure while minimizing operational complexity. Moreover, the platform now supports Axelera AI accelerators, integrates NVIDIA GPUs natively within the Slurm appliance, and facilitates automated Bare Metal as a Service (BMaaS) orchestration via NVIDIA Infrastructure Controller (NICo), specifically for AI and high-performance computing workloads.
Networking improvements in this version include VLAN Group-level authorization and support for Open vSwitch Switchdev, enhancing performance and ensuring secure multi-tenant environments. Further strengthening its offerings, the release bolsters backup and data protection with updates to the OpenNebula Backup Exporter (OneBEX), introduces Selected Disk Backups, and provides production-ready support for Ubuntu 26.04. Additional enhancements address storage, monitoring, networking, high availability, and compatibility with VMware.
In tandem with the platform update, OpenNebula Systems has also launched OpenNebula Apps (OneApps) 7.4.0, featuring updated virtual appliances, support for the AArch64 architecture in OneKS, compatibility with Alpine Linux 3.24, and deployment improvements tailored for enterprise cloud settings.
